This week, we went to Tuxtla! That's pretty much what we did.
Monday after writing we went out to meet Sister George who had brought one of the injured girls in the mission house to shop in San Cristobal and then took us all back up since we had a leadership conference there the next morning. It might have been the funniest car ride ever, as we were all gringas and funny ones at that, and it was especially funny when Sister George would lose it. She's this super proper and often sarcastic verging-on-grumpy lady and we LOVE her. So much. Oh goodness. We helped her shop for groceries, heat up food, and went for Tapioca House. One by one the other companionships of STL's showed up from all over the mission and we had a great night catching up a little, Van (my companion) was the entertainer. There was one point where she was telling the miraculous experiences they'd had with Sister Westbrook and how everyone was in the right place at the right time when she got sick, etc and once she finished Sister George finally looks up from her cooking and says, "Oh that is just TOO MUCH!" And we all DIED, it was so funny.
We had a pretty good council, a lot of it was talking about the Atonement and we were able to go to the temple afterwards.
We headed back and took with us Hermana Leon, Westbrook's companion, who've both been in the mission house this week as she gets better. Hna Leon came and stayed with us and went out to work with members for a couple of days. After working for a few days, we went back up to Tuxtla because Van's old companion came back to get married and a bunch of missionaries went. We had to change our P day, so we're going to work today after this. It was beautiful, they're happy, and we got to bring Westbrook home! Even though she's not all the way better, she's going crazy and needs to be here, and she's just about there. Woohoo!
In other news, this week we got to find a ton of new people which was a huge blessing! One night we had an hour left and not a lot of options, so we ran home and looked in the area book and found some old investigators that we went out to find. We had two great lessons, finding a mother of four who cried and a man who knows EVERYTHING and has a ton of knowledge about crazy things that I thought are only in Jesus the Christ and we don't know how he knows, but he also knows how we're the fifth race descended from lemurs and once we get to the seventh, the world will end. His wife also hated us and he wouldn't stop talking or let us out of his house for half an HOUR after we told him we had to leave.
We're hoping to have a more normal week this week and work a lot and do some exchanges with more girls now that things are calming down! Meanwhile, I love you a ton and am grateful for such a great family! Today after saying something about my mom, Van said "Is there ANYTHING about your mom that's not completely awesome?" I couldn't think of anything!
Love you!
Here are a couple of my old companions. Hermana Hickman and Coronado are companions now.
